Biography

Paul, born as Saul in Tarsus, was a Roman citizen and a Pharisee, well-versed in Jewish law and traditions Acts 22:3^. Initially, he vehemently opposed the followers of Jesus, actively participating in the persecution of Christians, including the stoning of Stephen Acts 7:58^. However, on his way to Damascus to arrest more Christians, he encountered the risen Christ in a blinding vision, leading to his dramatic conversion Acts 9:3-6^. This moment marked the beginning of his mission to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles, fulfilling God's plan for salvation for all humanity Acts 9:15^.

Following his conversion, Paul spent several years in Arabia and then returned to Damascus, where he began preaching about Jesus Galatians 1:17-18^. His missionary journeys took him across the Roman Empire, establishing churches and encouraging believers in their faith. Paul faced numerous hardships, including imprisonment, beatings, and shipwrecks, yet he remained steadfast in his mission 2 Corinthians 11:24-27^. His letters to various churches, such as the Romans and Corinthians, form a significant part of the New Testament and provide deep theological insights into the nature of Christ and the church Romans 1:1^.

Ultimately, Paul was arrested in Jerusalem and taken to Rome, where he continued to preach while under house arrest Acts 28:30-31^. Tradition holds that he was martyred for his faith, becoming one of the most influential figures in Christianity. His life serves as a testament to the transformative power of God's grace and the call to share the Gospel with all nations Matthew 28:19^.
