Biography

Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob and the first son of Rachel, was born in the land of Canaan Genesis 30:24^. His father favored him, giving him a coat of many colors, which incited jealousy among his brothers Genesis 37:3^. This jealousy led them to plot against him, ultimately selling him into slavery in Egypt Genesis 37:28^. Despite the betrayal, Joseph's faith in God never wavered, and he rose to prominence in Potiphar's house, where he was entrusted with great responsibilities Genesis 39:4^.

However, he faced false accusations from Potiphar's wife, which landed him in prison Genesis 39:20^. Even in prison, Joseph's ability to interpret dreams came to light when he correctly interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker Genesis 40:12-19^. After two years, Pharaoh had troubling dreams, and Joseph was summoned to interpret them, revealing a coming famine and advising Pharaoh on how to prepare Genesis 41:14-30^.

As a result, Joseph was appointed as second-in-command over Egypt, tasked with saving grain during the years of plenty Genesis 41:46^. When famine struck, his brothers came to Egypt seeking food, not recognizing him. Joseph, after testing their character, revealed his identity and forgave them, demonstrating his deep faith and understanding of God's plan Genesis 45:1-8^. His reunion with his family was a poignant moment, highlighting themes of redemption and reconciliation Genesis 46:29-30^.

Joseph's life is a profound narrative of faith, resilience, and divine purpose, illustrating how God can turn adversity into triumph. His story ends with the establishment of the Israelites in Egypt, setting the stage for the Exodus Genesis 50:24^.
